it's right under the drive, you can't miss it.

I am interested in which models have the logic board into the bluray board and which into the motherboard . I believe for NAND consoles it attaches to the motherboard , then they moved inside the bluray for NOR consoles , then they integrated it back into the MB in the new superslim series ?

Incorrect 400 series you can see the logic board the 410 some can 410 can have different connector ribbon to the drive
450 are all hidden and 25xx 30xx are on the mobo

Rule of thumb 400 disc goes straight in
410 disc spin

All consoles upto cechg are 400
Cechg have 400 and 410
After cechg all have 410
Slims have 450

I prob got all this wrong and someone will correct me but this is what I know

A friend is trying to replace his bluray for CECHG , he's on OFW and can't remarry
Could he :

- change the laser lens from the new to the old ?
- change the bluray board from the old to the new ?

Yes you could swap a laser from a CECHG to another CECHG but you can not swap logic boards.

Just had a thought just take the logic board off the drive with the dead laser and put on the drive with a good laser, job done.

Providing both drives have the logic board on the inside of the metal drive casing or on the outside, then yes.

If one drive has a logic board inside the metal drive casing and the other has it outside, then no.

The drives must visually match.
And if they do, then the easiest thing to do is to swap the logic board from old drive to new drive.
If you swap the laser, then you run the risk of the drive becoming misaligned - which isn't a huge problem, just a small pain.

Most CECHG consoles/drives are fitted with KES-400A lasers (single lens), although there are a small percentage out there fitted with KES-410A lasers (dual lens).

Towards the end of the CECHG model run, they became such a mish-mash of parts.

I've seen some fitted with an APS-231 (later generation PSU), but the laser is single lens (400A) and the ribbon connector is the old brown flimsy style (usually found on the launch model 60GB consoles) instead of the black connector - which is a lot sturdier.

Sorry for the borefest.
