As if it wasn't easy enough, it just got even easier. Logan5 has coded quick application (Windows only), that allows you to bypass the PS3 firmware check. Very easy to do and setup, you can grab it via download link below:

So how does this work? Do I just open the program on my computer, enter my ps3's IP and hit stop proxy?

Is there a tutorial available for the entire step-by-step process?

As soon as i try to run the program i get an error message, telling me that 'mswinsck.ocx' is not correctly registerd or missing.

Any suggestions?

I don't know what to enter for proxy port I tried 8080 but it said invalid information.

Enter the proxy number you entered on your PS3
If an OCX file is missing download it then use REGSVR32 in cmd.exe to register the file
