Steal a nuclear warhead, take some hostages on a faraway island in Alaska's Fox Archipelago, then record a video saying "Dear Mr. Kazuo Hirai and the company, please fire the goons responsible for FW 3.0, and make me a leader of the XBM production team, or I shall stick this warhead right up your dog's arse, so help me God! Sincerely yours, Liquid $n!pR (which means I can shoot good from afar!).", and send it to SCE, for instance.
On a more serious note, I don't think it's possible to remove the lame news feed at the top right.

It has to be getting that info from somewhere, so if we could redirect it so there's no news it will be gone.

or it just says "news unavailable", the only solution will probably be to wait for the never to come CFW.

I have made a discovery or two which my have not been noted. I have managed two come across a new feature in the xmb which may not be accessible to everyone, it appears between game and video and is nicely titled "TV", this occurred after I was on the bbciplayer website. Im not too sure if the install feature was always there at the themes section which allows you to install a theme from a usb device.

Many people really hate the update, which led to the closing of comments on the official Playstation blog.

I put the newest update on my new slim PS3. Function wise its not a problem, but it does make the XMB feel very crowded (oversized icons, horrible friends list, navbar etc..)

Thanks guys, I won't bother posting here again, I'll just stick to being a lurker then :|
I doubt that you will be the only one noticing such a change, lol.

But thanks anyway

Okay, thanks.
I think I'll wait a little before updating - just to see if there's anything else unexpected hidden

i noticed that on my launch 20gb ps3 with 3.0 FW there is no ps3 logo when booting up games. idk about the ps3 slim as dont care much for it, but as far as i know the slim displays the newer "PS3" logo when booting up games, i guess sony either forgot or just hater the old spiderman 3 font....lol

should i update my mint 60 gb launch ps3 (currently on launch 1.10 firmware) to 3.0 or is there some hope that some unreleased hack/crack/mod may come out

SKFU u know what i mean lulz
