[My Theory]

Today while playing with the tiff exploit I came across an interesting theroy. I would like to share this with you fellas and see if someone could give this a shot. As I dont want to say it works alone.

The Theory:

Using the brd xmb back up tut. You seemingly unplug the sata controller which in turn freezes the ps3 interface for a moment.
With the tiff exploit you can change discs via swaping original and such.

Putting these two concepts together. I found something quite interesting.

Steps to make this theory work would be.

1. Tiff switch disc to the HDadvanced disc let it start loading.
2. While in mid load of the hdadvanced disc and before removing the usb/sd card unplug the sata fat32 hdd and plug in sata ntfs hdd
3. remove the sd/usb card letting hdadvanced load. And viola you play the game from the hdd

[edited] I suppose you could use usb advanced in much the same way without having to unplug anything just use the tiff exploit to get usb advance to run. I am currently playing with trying to transfer my ps2 mc hack over to see if I can get any results there as well.

Many times before this I tried and it didnt recognise the hdd. However Hdadvanced is set to recognise ntfs formatted hdd's and not the fat32 ones. As I am not a coder I wouldnt know how to recode hdavanced to make it recognise fat32. Dowing this switch is a hot swap. Which is described in the brd xmb back up anyway. I thought perhaps someone out there *cough* H3r3tic *cough* would give this a shot and see if the findings are the same as mine. Good luck and please post what you find. btw I am not looking for rep rocgnition in the scene or anything. I am purely putting out this information as it may or maynot help the real hackers arounc the net.

Re: [My Theory]

It can´t be done, because the PS3OS need to regonize the partition on the HDD, HDAdvance isn´t a OS, this can be used on PS2 because PS2 can regonize NTFS partitions, it was made by $ony because the file limit on FAT32 is 4Gb ...

Are you sure?, if you get a PS2 game that needs to be played from the harddrive like Final Fantasy then the PS3 will create a PS2 style partition on your PS3,

This PS2 partition would be then used to load HDLoader
OK so it won't play ps3 backups but ps2 backups? who knows as I don't think its been tried and I don't have HDloader or Final Fantasy on Ps2.

Re: [My Theory]

The PS2 partition isn´t NTFS right? Or i´m wrong ... the PS3 can create a PS2 partition but can´t read NTFS partitions, it´s on the partition table at the system, so i gona investigate this here ...

Re: [My Theory]

Surely it can read it the partition, otherwise it couldn't be used for Final Fantasy.

If an exploit is found I think that if a PS2 Harddrive partition can be used for Final Fantasy, we could use for everyday use on the PS3, in the months to come. I know it won't be easy, but to me it sounds possible.
