Anthony Ventura, on behalf of himself and others similarly situated Vs Sony Computer Entertainment America Nature Of Case 1. This class action to redress Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc's ("Sony") intentional disablement of the valuable functionalities originally advertised as available with the Sony Playstation 3 console (the "PS3"). This disablement is not only a breach of the sales contract between Sony and its customers and a breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing, but is also an unfair and deceptive business practice perpetrated on millions of unsuspecting consumers. 2. This suit is brought on behalf of a nationwide class of all persons who purchased a PS3 during the period November 17, 2006 to march 27, 2010 and who did not resell their PS3 before march 27, 2010 (the "Class") It seeks, inter alia, damages for plaintiff and each class member, including but not limited to compensatory damages; restitution; injunctive relief; attorney's fees; and costs of this suit.

Hmm, I wonder how much could be obtained through this. Do I try getting $100 from Best Buy, or wait for this? I think the amount from a CA lawsuit would be less than $100 per class-action member, probably a $10 voucher or some crap.

i purchased a ps3 phat in that time aswell. have i got to sign up to his class action suit or will it be like if he wins the case that every 1 who purchased it in that time will be gettin sumin? also is this just for America or EU also?

I think it depends on the settlement/ruling. IIRC, Microsoft had to cut cheques to windows customers, whether they participated in the suit or not, back in 2000-ish due to anti-trust lawsuits in europe (for bundling IE with Windows)

However, I think some suits will require you to participate, and those are the ones where they generally do a campaign to get people to sign on (You'll see the ads for those on TV.. 'Do you suffer from MESOTHELIOMA? blah blah!', where they're trying to drum up people to participate)
