Hi all, I have posted this here as there isnt a forum/section for the wii,

I have managed to softmod my wii using this method, and it works, I was on 3.4e and I now have softmii 2.1.1 installed and fully working, without the use of the twilight hack, this will work on the latest fw aswell (4.0 ) Although I'm not 100% sure that softmii works on a 4.0 wii yet, (it does on any lower fw 3.XX upwards,)

You will need BannerBomb for this to work, and follow this guide and away you go, simple as that this is not my tutorial so credit goes to ninja-uk for posting it over at prettyboo, And KongsNutz for writing it. I have made a few changes, as it wasn't 100% correct.

BACKUP YOUR SD CARD BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE
DELETE EVERYTHING ON YOUR SD CARD OR THIS WILL NEVER WORK
ONLY THE FILES IN THE TWO PACKS SHOULD BE ON THE SD CARD!!!

What you need:

BannerBomb on the sd card (or this will not work, a google search should help you find it)

WiFi (Important)

"DOWNLOAD"

Instructions

Put the contents on your SD Card as it is in the .rar just drag all to SD Card.

Go to Data Management then choose Channels followed by SD

Choose "Yes" to load boot.dol

LoadMii will then load.

Press "A" on the WiiMote.

Go down to DowngraderIOS35.dol and run it by pressing "A" on the WiiMote.
Choose downgrade IOS35 and then let it go, then choose exit (ignore the patchmii and dvdx)

You'll be back in LoadMii now.

Go down and run Wad Manager 1.4 by pressing "A" on WiiMote.

Just select normal settings (don't change IOS)

Install IOS35.wad.

Exit Wad Manager 1.4 by pressing "HOME"

You'll be back in LoadMii.

Run Wad Manager again, Select IOS35 when it asked what IOS to use.

Install the CIOSv7.wad.

Press "Home" to exit.

Then Run Wad Manager again.

Tell it to use IOS249.

Install IOS36.wad, BUL3g.wad & HBC.wad


You will now restart Wii to find that Backuplauncher and Homebrew Channel are installed and working.


Should be all hacked now and ready to grab the new versions of CIOS (v10 atm) from http://www.yafaze.com

Once your at this stage, I'd recommend installing Softmii 2.1.1, and your all set, (Again, not 100% sure Softmii will work correctly on a 4.0 wii)

This hack is newer, and easier to do than the older methods, (No modchip or original copy of the twilight princess needed) alot of people have they're wii's running homebrew already, but I posted this tut for the people that have only just picked up a wii, or that have updated fw (4.0) and no modchip,

so what does this allow us to do with our Wii then?
i dont have one YET, but it is defo the next console i want to pick up, just waiting for my mate to get bored of his and offer it to me for a very low price, ha ha ha!
i'm not big on the Wii scene yet so any info would be great, write back on here on pm me!

Basically any hacked console can do the same thing:
Run homebrew and game backups.

cool, thanx for the info.
i didnt know if this was JUST for homebrew or back-ups too.
like with my PSP, i use it for homebrew and emulators, but i know it can run ISO's too.

will this do anything bad to the wii? cuz mine is for all of my family apprently (EVEN though i paid for it and it should be mine only)

anyways iwas thinking of getting burnt punch out for my wii so will this work perfectly without worrying bout anything?

As with any softmod there is a risk of you bricking your wii, so only do this if you know what you are doing or are willing to risk bricking your wii, although I can say I know of quite a few people who have followed this guide, and not had any problems, so imho unless you havent got the first clue, what this guide does exactly you should be ok, its easy to do and get right, but if you are unsure I would get someone who does know what they are doing to do it for you,

hey guys.i know i'm bit behind the times but i FINALLY got hold of a Wii (my new g/f's, lmao) and she let me go crazy on it, ha ha ha. just wanted to say that firstly the links in the first page are no longer working, i found the 4.0softmod.rar file here:

so thats all good, but the other links are not working, so i just wondered if there was anyway someone (MadS maybe? lol) could give me some more info on what to do once i have done this bit, and if there are any DOWN points about doing it. like the new Xbox 360 bans and stuff, dont want her Wii getting locked out or anything.

p.s. is there a way to reverse it and remove the hack, like flashing new firmware to the PSP can remove custom firmware. i'm a total n00b when it comes to the Wii, lmao.
