Just curious...

But if this really works, shouldn't we all be updating to 3.41 before Sony removes it from it's servers?

I would rather have Other OS than Back Up's.

The interesting things about backup games loaded to HDD are:

1) Not having to load a disk every time you want to play a game.
2) Not having to carry disks with you if you travel with your PS3.
3) Not having to worry about getting your disks scratched. Anyone who has young kids knows how important this is.
4) Faster loading off the HDD as compared to the PS3's notoriously slow Blu Ray Drive.

These are all important to me and what has extended my PS2's life for me. (I have a Fat PS2 with the internal HDD & Free MC Boot / HD Loader Installed)

This wouldn't be technically possible for some games which require resources freed up in newer firmwares which aren't available in older firmwares.

dont update till you know FOR A FACT that it wont work on 3.15, and so far i can assume that it will work on 3.15, lets assume they (whoever made the dongle) have been working on it for a while and not since april 1 2010.

i want to see if the backup manager will still load without the dongle in, and see if the .pkg is legit encrypted/signed, if it is not and considered unsigned code /homebrew then we know whats up

more than likely, the dongle has special HW. ...like most USB keys/dongles a piece of SW will look to the HW for a special instruction (example) & then proceed....this is to prevent SW piracy...

for example, i have a Auto cad program that is awesome & its installed, however if i remove the USB key, the SW does not work. The usb key shows up as a 512mb drive, but there is NOTHING on it....ive even tried a BUNCH of file managers via Win & Linux, & nothing is on the drive.....

so this dongle is probaly the same
