nogo

No go =(

I took an external 2.5" and put it in, formatted it using the ps3, and then took it out, rebooted with my original drive, and reconnected it using it's original sata-to-usb. ps3 does not see it.

Also, FTR, it doesn't seem to have a valid partition table when inspecting it from linux.

Also, I used linux to format a usb stick to UFS2, and the ps3 did not see it.

I feel defeated.

I just got the new 3.0 WD Passport 1TB and can't get my PS3 Slim to read it. I format it to FAT32 but no luck. What can I do?

I used FAT32FORMAT.EXE to format my 500g to work and it found it on the first shot. Did you format with Xp or Windows 7? If so then beware limitation with XP only 32g max per drive so you'll have to partition it and Windows 7 uses exFAT which is not the same and PS3 doesn't detect.

Hope this helps.

Edit: Wait, from the image, it would seem that's an IDE desktop hard drive being connected. Any solutions for connecting SATA desktop hard drives (which are faster and easier to come by these days)?
That's just a cheap ass external casing without the case! LOL

Sorry for hijacking, but I keep getting a blank screen the second I plug in my external HDD, once I pull it out the screen comes back on.. I also get interference from the speakers when I plug it into my PC. Anyone had this problem before? It's on a seperate mains power supply, not a double USB cable.

Thanks!

I would stop plugging that External HD in anything...especially your PS3. The transformer (Power unit) might be faulty on that sucker. I'd change it.

I agree, there might be something wrong with the power supply.
