A war of updates is soon to be started. Hackers vs. Sony, a much laughed at cat-and-mouse parody.
This jailbreaker allows homebrew apps to work. I don't know if the Boot Manager is created by using the official PS3 SDK, I don't really care, because as soon hackers will create any custom apps, they WILL, at last, be able to run! A previous article I read highlighted that the USB dongle is not updatable. But, any "homebrew" software, inluding the the Boot Manager, is.
There will be apps to mask the Firmware version on a console, there will be apps to mask anything. I only hope that hackers will always find ways to fully mask the jailbroken console, cause Sony has the upper hand and detecting its masked detection mechanism will be a darn difficult quest.

@devil hunter when this starts this will give devs the ability to find future exploits on newer firmwares. the banned part its totally possible to hide the hack while activated or make a menu that totally like the psp (while hold R) to add a feature that unbans from that error. but the only problem is that the ps3 serial number will be recorded on their server and reban you but you will still be able to use it offline.

Hackers must (should/might) find a way to let us (the users) change that serial number (is it MAC?). If a dammy MAC bans us, we can put someone other's who is not banned (off course we will ask his pemission).

no $ony is smart its better to record the console's serial number than the mac address because that can be changed. Yes it is possible to change the serial but you have to get a valid serial number because $ony can make a serial checker before you even log in on psn that has to shake hands. if it doesn't match or the serial number is listed as banned they can send the signal to ban the console. but if the devs makes something that can kill that signal all $ony has to do is not let you get on period.

So hackers be wise
We've got some clever ps3 maniacs out there. I bet they'll do a nice job to avoid us and themselves from getting into a banhummer situation :bebored:

Devilhunter this is not a" solution for stupids" as you say it is the start of something that can evolve into so much more. Also for people like me who don't play online there is no problem with banning the only problem that exists for people who dont go online is having to update firmware for latest games but I'm sure something similar to devhook on psp can help here atleast until a full cfw comes along

fully agree to that. we seen this with Coca-Cola/Pepsi, Future Shop/Best Buy notably. this is in fact a very successful marketing strategy when your at the top of something.
