Downside is that you loose ADB and USB Mass storage when in recovery. This works great in your regular ROM though.

Just Because I Really Dont Know What Im Doing..
I Borrowed A Friends Htc Hero To Do This.. So Just Got Introduced To The Whole Rooting Androids.. And All That Stuff.

I Was just trying to go by the tut step by step.

Whats The problem with loosing adb and usb mass storage when in recovery..?
i just wanna hack my system..lol would it really matter in my situation..?

If Not Could You Point Me To The Whole Modified Image Way.?
btw i just found the drivers and it seems like there installed.
now im waiting to type in C:\android-sdk_r07-windows\android-sdk-windows\tools>fastboot boot C:\test\zImage In Cmd But Gotta Wait Till Phone Charges..lol

1. Copy psfreedom.ko to your sdcard
2. Install a terminal emulator from the market
3. Make a Nand Backup just in case.
4. Fastboot the zImage:

CMD
cd\
cd\android\tools
fastboot boot C:\zImage

4 Once it has booted open the terminal emulator
5 type su
6 type cd /sdcard
7 type insmod psfreedom.ko
8 plug in to ps3 power then eject quickly.
9 Have backupmanager on a usb stick.

To get to fast boot power off your hero.
After you Power off hold Volume Down and Power on. Then press back.
Guide to root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645253

Any problems with Fastboot image could be this:

Ps most of this is for GSM Hero.

Download the custom recovery here: http://data.fuskbugg.se/skogsturken/...m-1.0-bdvd.img

Copy recovery-RA-hero-v1.7.0.1-psfreedom-1.0-bdvd.img to the root of your sdcard
Boot into your current custom recovery (boot while holding HOME)
Connect your Hero via usb to your pc/mac/whatever, start cmd and type the following:
adb shell
su
mount -a
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-hero-v1.7.0.1-psfreedom-1.0-bdvd.img

That's it. Boot into recovery every time you need to jailbreak your PS3.

Have you installed the Android SDK and are you in the correct directory (within cmd) when you type the above commands?

Steps for 2.1

0. For CDMA Users : install this first, http://bit.ly/arX6CT

2. Install a terminal emulator from the market

3 Fastboot the zImage (fastboot boot /path/to/zimage/zImage)

4 Once it has booted open the terminal emulator

Try typing 'cd\android-sdk-windows\tools' then type 'fastboot boot c:\path\to\zImage\zimage' like 'drive:\PathToZimage\zImageFILE'
I did those steps , it flashed ok. But never booted back up... It just hangs on the htc logo

Got Past The Htc Logo but now the terminal emulator says i need internet access

**** man , finally got everything to work. Backup manager installed but 2 problems. The first folder with a star gives me "an error occurred when stating" something like that.
And ofcourse now my freaking ps3 doesn't wanna suck the disc in.. Not one of them. This happened to me befor so I'm sure it has nothing to do with the hack.but damn. So close. One problem after another
