OtherOS, and KExec
Has anyone tried to actually use KExec to execute a self yet?
I just get the feeling there's loads of stuff that is overlooked recently. Shadowsan

Re: OtherOS, and KExec
Nah, back in the day when I was coding gamecube **** we used to be able to use kexec to basically re-load our own kernels and on top of that, load ANY executable that was machine readable, i.e. any PPC compatible binary - within reason of course.
Now, my thinking is that if kexec could load up selfs or even bin files - then the possibilities are VERY interesting. If it runs selfs, for instance we may be able to actually run games directly from the hard drive, run the upgraders (downgrade to earlier firmware without the xmb butting in) etc. It'd be very interesting if it could. I'll look into it in a little while and report back. Shadowsan
