Editing Registry to ovrclock Fan?
I'd like to overclock my PS3 fan as I just repaired it from YLOD, but it's getting super hot again, and I think it's gonna YLOD again. I saw this here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-...ur_fan-844137/
but I think it's too advanced for me, or at least i don't understand it and a tutorial would help. Although it'd be much easier if I could softmod the ps3 to overclock the fan, is there anyway to do this? |

There is no method to softmod the PS3 fan yet (that I know of).
Its going to YLOD again regardless of what you do, I recommend selling it to Gamestop or something while it is still alive. |

you can try reflowing the board of the ps3 using Gilky's guide but like Pirate said, once it YLODs it might redo it unless you reapply something that Gilky is applying. Watch the youtube video to see.

Just get some liquid flux off of ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/NO-CLEAN-LIQUID-...#ht_1400wt_911 A $15 heat gun from home depo. Some thermal paste, i recommend Arctic Silver. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-ARCTIC-SILVE...ht_1762wt_1137 And follow Gilky's guide. I do this in my repair shop and offer a 30 warranty on ps3s, ive done 100s and have never had anyone bring one back. It always helps to tell the coustomer how to "not" overheat there console. ^.^ Btw, you can get warranty stickers for your own use from ebay also. (this is what i use) http://cgi.ebay.com/100-WARRANTY-VOI...#ht_1660wt_911 If you want to take one to gamestop, you can always buy a non voided ps3 warranty sticker. http://cgi.ebay.com/NON-VOID-PS3-WAR...#ht_852wt_1137 hope this helps :thrasher: :thrasher: :thrasher:

I heard that Sony will take a ps3 with yellow light, or blinking red light and give you a new slim for a $150 "repair" fee.
Just do that. Brand new unit. They probably aren't going into the warehouse and opening up boxes to do firmware updates. ¯\(°_o)/¯ |
