How to add DLC to your game.
Okay guys, so I have recently figured out that the DLC in games is ALL in the Game Data Utility, yeah some of you may already know this, but what I have figured out is that you can move some files into there and it will allow you to use the DLC!
So I ran a test, and some help from others to conclude this test is also needed. What I did is I opened up the LittleBigPlanet DLC file. Also known as "BCUS98148DLC0" After doing so I looked into the USRDIR folder and found every single costume or level kit I had purchased, which sadly is a lot. After doing that, I copied all of the DLC files to my computer, then I went back to the files and I deleted them. After I did that, it acted as if I didn't have rights to the content anymore in-game. So the PS3 was reading and said that I did NOT have the content. I put it back on and I was able to use it again. What this means is that someone that does NOT have these files on their PS3 cannot use the DLC, but if we transfer them over to that folder, then the PS3 thinks that they purchased it! I will post a video of this in action later. But there are a few things that I need some people to help with, if anyone has LittleBigPlanet 1 or 2, and a modded PS3, I will ask you for some help in a moment, first, the things you will need. An SD Card or a FAT32 External Hard Drive BlackBox FTP Server installed on your PS3 FileZilla client. And LittleBigPlanet either backed up or disc. So here is what you are going to do: Open up the server and client and waltz on in to "dev_hdd0" Make your way into "games" Then for US people find a file called "BCUS98148DLC0". After doing that go into USDIR Now download this file: http://www.mediafire.com/?8iqr8mhyeq5wmr7 Replace your current USRDIR file with this one. Now go and see if you are able to use all of the content. Also, remember to backup YOUR DLC files before doing this, as I'm not quite sure of it's working, that's why I'm asking for your help. Thanks for reading! |

I will let you know later this evening if it works. How can I recognize the individual folder for a given game's DLC?

Ok your files didn’t work on my LBP. I believe that the main reason for that happening was that I was trying them on a EU version. I will try and find a US version and will try again. From what I saw I don’t see why this will not work.

I only have EU version as well, but I was thinking that maybe DLC 'tags' the game for what has been purchased when we initially download it. If it does then it will not be as simple as just putting the DLC in it's designated folder.
Something similar is with some CAD software on the PC. You can put the templates and fonts etc in their relevant folders, but until you actually instruct the program to install them they are not recognised. I have zero experience with DLC, but does it have to be a direct dowload from PSN store (or whatever it's called lol) or can it be downloaded from a USB stick? If it can then I see no reason why it would not work even if it does get 'tagged'. Just a couple of thoughts though and I am invariably talking out of my bum lol |

Sorry don't mean to come accross as ignorant (really), but hasn't this been covered several times already. If I'm wrong or haven't read what your doing correctly, please be as harsh as you can with the replies, I deserve it.
I'm sure that any DLC, etc. is activated on the server. Simply transfering it to another system won't work(unless that system co-incidentally has the same files activated / verified. Can't remember if it's a .dat or not, but definitely some file that contains activated purchases. If you were to extract the files then use keys to unsign and resign (or not), I'd imagine it would work then, but I have no knowledge of anything useful, so couldn't help you there, sorry. Your right, this has been rehashed a bunch of times and there really is only one way to download DLC that you didnt pay for and its actually quite easy, the problem is finding someone else willing to help you. The best and only way to do it is have someone who already has the DLC you want remove all the personal payment info from their PS3 account and change their password. Then you get their login credentials and log in as the other person and redownload the DLC to your console. I believe this can be done a total of 5 times for each download but it may be more, I dont remember.
Basically they dont really have to delete all the personal info on their profile and change their password, but it's just recommended since once someone else logs in on your PSN ID they can access all that personal information. If you trust the other person with that stuff then all you have to do is give them your regular login credentials and let them login. However, most of this is done over the internet in forums and I highly doubt anyone is trusting random forum people with their credit card info and regular PSN password. |
