the ps3 can't read psx/ps2 savegames that aren't converted to PSV file format. We don't need ps2pfsexplorer because we can't create PSV files

There is no need to repack them -
Using swap magic and bootloaders you can copy and paste direct to MC:0 on the emulated Ps2 on the Ps3,

So I can take a PSV file unpack it - make some changes and then upload the file contents to a folder created on MC:0
It will display on XMB (sometimes as corrupted) but if a program is looking for it, then it will find the folder on MC:0

But,i'm not interested in pirate games,or illegal downloading....i just want my PS3 to be region-free.All of my PSone and PS2 games is NTSC-US while my PS3 is NTSC-J...and you don't know how it feels when you have bunch of games,but can't play them because of the region locked.

Don't blame me though,for buying the NTSC-J PS3...it's my big brother,he bought me that console...and he knows nothing about region in games...

Ya, it´s as simple as PS3rips says. before I had SM 3.6 and also realized that Launchelf had the ability to copy :-[ I was doing it the hard way. hooking my ps2 up to the PC via usb with Xport, transfering the modified save to the ps2 mem card. then using the ps2 memcard adaptor for the PS3.
So this is a pretty good idea. more or less the idea of the independence exploit. Unfortunately that was blocked along with the launching of any elfs from the VMC. We can store needed files or even roms on the VMC though.So I´m not sure how we can make use of this. Lol, we need a new ps2 xploit for the PS3.

Xsplinter I know how you feel. I have about 15 different region ps2 games and would like to play them but I don´t think that can happen without there also being a way to play backups(without opening your ps3). what I mean is there both untouchable right now. Funny, an original different region game is just as hard to get running as a backup.

For those wondering, it is somewhat possible to make a PSV file. Using the cheat device on the PSP you can load a emulator savefile and then save it using the PSPs PS1 emulator.
