I don't really know if this is the right place to post this, but one of my programming acquaintances who works at the university here said that Sony hired a team here to test an official Sony downgrading kit. I'm not sure I really believe them or not, but it kind of makes sense, what if Sony was developing this for people who used the PS3 arrays for research?

From the beginning its been based on piracy and it keeps running on this track... but hey, thats life! I guess Darwin would call it "adaptability" :P
Sony might sue them, for (quite) sure... but as they are warez from the start... you know what i mean!!!
If they cant be caught, they cant be punished!
To tell you the truth, my friend, what bothers me is that i am in the mean time very thankfull to these guys because they gave a new birth to the scene, and also did it a very unlawfull way and i suspect them from having broken lots of laws to achieve this.
In france, we have a saying: "on ne fait pas d'omelette sans casser d'oeufs"... which means "não fazer uma omelete sem quebrar ovos".
In other words, some "colateral damages" are necessary to achieve great goals sometimes...

I already posted my opinion on that weeks ago and i still think the same: they have someone infiltrated in sony. it seems so obvious to me. all this thing just looks like industrial spying...
As you say: it is sony coded (as of now everything leads to this conclusion) but they dont care. Its like a poker game, they are going all-in and pray it will be rewarded.
Whatever happens in the next weeks, whether they get caught and sueded or not, still lots of ps3 users will get the benefits of it. Lets not care about whats gonna happen to them, its their business and the risks they take is their responsability. If the scene can take advantage of their work and open the ps3 system... then let it be.

You can't have those files neither you or them or anyone else, they are illegal to have only official sony devs and employees should have them, so they can't distribute them on pen drives or anything its illegal.

I know what you mean man! but as you said, i am thinking like you do! i could care less what happens to them as long as this gets outside. but also as you said i feel bad that what gave "birth" to the scene was a group like this :S oh well, love those sayings XD
