1TB Internal HDD + 3.50 transfer to 3.41 No downgrading required!
I was wondering how to manage to get 1TB into my PS3 and couldn't find the any tutorials or Sata drives that could work.
I know there is probably some other affordable solutions but i couldn't find any online but at $119.99 for 1TB is pretty good! and it comes with an enclosure case with USB power ! Best Deal! (canada retailer) Sorry first time here and 1st post and I just wanted to share my experience with 1TB internal HDD + 3.50 to 3.41 without downgrading. I checked online on some solutions on to swap internal HDD in a PS3 and find the right 1TB internal 2.5 Sata drive and this is what I found and am using right now its just slightly taller then original sata but it works without the tray. Also how to get DLC's, Saved game Data, PSN Games, Game Patches, Qore, Copyright Game saves, Protected data Etc from 3.50 to a 3.41 PS3. Step 1 this is for PS3 slim have not tested on a fatty You can buy this ![]() ![]() @ Futureshop.ca not sure where you could find it in the states Iomega 1TB Portable Hard Drive 1 TB Sata drive is made by Samsung forgot model # Step 2 - Backup Utility (System info/Backup Utility) on your internal HDD in your PS3 before the swap on a external/portable harddrive etc. - Take out the blue screw and pull out the HDD with tray. - If you want to reuse that HDD then unscrew it from the tray. Step 3 - Iomega Portable HDD has 6 screws which takes 1 min to take apart ![]() - 2 screws are hiding underneath some rubber placements, just peel them off ![]() - 2 screws out 4 to go ![]() - you can now push it out from the screw end with your fingers or pen ![]() - now sits the 4 easy screws ![]() Step 4 90% done! - With your empty internal HDD slot in your PS3 slide this baby inside without the PS3 Stock Tray. - it should fit nice and tug (might take you a few attempts but it will glide in without any force) - turn the PS3 on and follow the instructions - Press PS button screen should pop and should be formatting now. - after format process you will end up with 931GB of space - plug in your external HDD and run your Backup Utility and your Done! Step 5 - Now you can use your old PS3 internal HDD in the Iomega Case as your Portable Hard drive!!! 3.50 transfer to 3.41 transfer JB of course I used Hermes v4b + 3.5 spoof payload I also searched online for a tutorial on how to possibly do this and I just could not find a way for about a week. This requires 2 PS3 of course. I use 1 for online and 1 for offline DO NOT UPDATE TO 3.55 just yet! SO with all my protected/copyright saves, DLC's, PSN Games, PSone Games, Qore etc on my 3.5 i managed to put them into my 3.41 console. Step 1 - if you were like me and bought the 1TB and put it into the 3.41 (then of course JB it) so the 3.41 system reads at 3.5 - place ethernet cables into both ports on the back of the PS3's Step 2 - System Info/Data Transfer Utility - Select 3.50 system content to transfer to 3.41 system. - go back to 3.41 system and accept to receive content. - follow process Step 3 - the waiting game - I left it over night for about 8 hours and woke up and it was still not finished downloading - went to work came home it was sitting at 92% for about 2 hours then moved up 1% - after roughly 18 hours 30mins it finally finished! (if it looks like its stuck, be patient and let it run its course) - Baaaamm!! complete!!! I can play Red Dead Redemption with the Undead nightmare Pack from PSN! All my PSN items are intact and playable DLC are all useable! Game Installs are all useable Copy protected Saves are WORKING!!!!!!!!! not sure but This process might be able to get 3.50 games running on the 3.41 if you have runned 3.5 games on your online PS3. I will have to check it out later today to confirm. My Medal of Honor was installed on my Online PS3 with all the data intact and was transfered onto 3.41 PS3. Gonna rent the game tonight and test it out!. If this helps any devs! let me know! I didn't have to downgrade my 3.50 at all was just able to move it onto my 3.41 console. Also saved all my previous JB saves on a USB and just copied it back onto the JB. So now i have all my PS3 game saves all working! |

Hey Smooth,
Thanks for posting a guide for transferring save content from 3.50 to 3.41, I too have been searching for weeks for a solution. ![]() I wanted to ask tho if its possible to transfer save content back from a JB 3.41 (reading at 3.50) to an original 3.50 ps3? I wanted to first transfer content from my 3.50 to 3.41, then copy some save files to my PC using FTP Server, and then transfer the content back to the original 3.50 system. Would this be possible? TIA |

awesome tutorial been wanting to do this for a while , just a few questions:
1. how tight is the fit? (pic's would be good) 2. could we use one hdd for jailbreak(big) and one for online(small) , or use it for linux and just swap out when we want to play online or use linux? 3. is it a special hdd that come from the case? any smaller than a regular 1TB Sata drive? i backed up my saves and did it from 3.41 down to 3.15 (restore saves) and back up to 3.41 (restore saves) just using the ps3's backup to usb.

I know how to get the saves off of the JB PS3 (using FTP server) but I just want to make sure after transferring everything to the JB PS3 I will be able to transfer them back and have everything working the way it was. Hope that makes sense Last edited by Vuyolicious; 12-11-2010 at 08:40 AM. |
