I actually just tested this and it doesn't work, at least not on 3.41. All my PS3 did was turn off after 10 seconds and the flash drive had a blank geohot.txt file on it.
EDIT: Apparently that's all its suppose to do

"geohot_1st.self" is the Hello world - doesn't work for me
"Lv2diag.self" creates a "geohot.txt" - works for me

There's no need to downgrade...

well alright brother, i searched the forums and WILL not be phucken with service mode. haha. too many things that just shot over my head and too many things i would most likely fubar up.
i do so want to be a huckleberry and do some testing but i got too much money put into my ps3 for only tinkering around with it and not really doing anything but looking at a proof of concept that crashes. i'm just gonna have to wait for signed packages and/or a cfw. |

1. Flash usb dev dongle with service mode hex 2. Boot PS3 with usb dev dongle (PS3 turns off after 10 seconds) 3. Reboot PS3 and check to make sure its in service mode 4. Turn off PS3, and copy geohot's Lv2diag.self onto blank flash drive, put in last usb port on right 5. Boot PS3, Lv2diag.self executes. 6. To exit service mode, copy over Lv2diag.self with Lv2diag.self FILE 2 (google) Last edited by $n!pR; 01-03-2011 at 11:51 PM. |

haha, you just explained in 6 easy steps what 6 threads of complicated doohickery-doo couldn't explain to me!
but i'm still gonna have to take a pass on it as i lack the usb drives. i might be able to get a new usb soon but with the doors wide open now its only a matter of time till someone creates some software i can maybe just use a sd card or usb drive and just have to switch my ps3 on to use.
