how to run those .self files in 3.55 ofw?
i'd putted the .self in the root of my usb, but it didn't work what i did was: start up the machine jailbreak wise, but that didn't work, so i did start my ps3 the normal way, but that didn't work either. anyone? |

has to be in service mode, so you need your stick installed with the service mode hex that has been available for a few weeks now.

so this will mean i need a dev board? or can i just install the hex on a normal usb-stick, i don't get it...

Hello people,
I'm a beginner in all of this i can someone help me or give me a link to a post to know if now soon or later it is possible to play backup games with fw 3.50 pre installed??? Can't downgrade to 3.41. Thx for the help already!!!! |

you still need a dev boeard to flash the service mode hex to, a normal USB wont do the job, and its just a PoC, doesent do anything really, just shows the ps3 loads hes .self file and make a txt to proof its actually "Loaded",
be patient and all this will lead to alot of awesome stuff  ************* [ - Post Merged - ] *************
chrisice if you have a dev board you can downgrade, right now you cant run 3.42+ homebrew, but this shows that it will eventually be doable in the near future

Thx Eiki, but this don't have the knowledge to handle with dev boards.
had yellow light of dead on my fat 3.41 fw, did buy new slim ps3 with fw preinstalled and did not work the downgrade bc new slims have new security apparently :-( Hope it will be soon possible to play backups on fw 3.50! |

Mine didn't work in service mode, I tried lots of combinations to install the self, but it wouldn't, I'm on 3.55. got into service easily, and then used a usd stick, but nothing works, please confirm working on UK PS3.

i know this has probably been asked before but how do i get my 3.50 into service mode,i had a jailbroken ps3 but decided to update,i was using a pic18f4550 for my jb and its just sitting upstairs in a draw do nothin,im guessin i need this to do so but wouldnt know where to start,i seen the downgrade on logic sunrise but i dont wanna downgrade just wanna know how i get my ps3 into service mode,thanx in advance
