I'm not sure if this has been done yet but wouldn't it be a good proof of concept if someone just signed some homebrew that already exists, installs it in 3.41 JB mode and runs it in non-JB mode or after an update?
It should still be installed and signed after the update and therefore playable.
Just my thought... might be bs :D

im afraid its not that easy weeman.
as far as i know, signing is not a simple step and even geohots helloworld app needs to be run from service mode, not from a retail ps3 xmb
we need to wait and watch for a while

But if there was a way to install the signed pkgs from usb on 3.55 would it still not be able to run from xmb?

its not working on a updated 3.55. I put it in service mode with E3, and then put the self file on a blank usb in the right hand usb, and booted - nothing !. I also tried renaming the file Lvdiag, and trying lots of combo's but nothing, also I can't see anything in the service xmb when I open the usb slot either !

hmm.. you're wrong there mate.. Yes he didn't do it all, he certainly is not to be credited for it all, but he certainly did a lot for this to be possible..
