sont can't confiscate his computer equipment and search for what he did and how he did, only an investigator can. if sony does have his stuff, thats tampering with evidence and will not be admissible i a court if law!

you can have sony's team come in and look in it, but only with documented investigators and Geohotz defense team there as witnesses to make sure they don't add or take anything away from it.

sony think they are above the law, its time they learn they have no free pass when it comes to invasion of privacy and the law.

If the lawyers can find a competent economist, they could show the court how much money Sony made on the playstation 2 +games with its rampant piracy

Then compare it to how much Sony has made from playstation3 + games

Even chart the relative success of consoles by security level in each generation, showing how the least secure has made the most money ever since the C64 drove Atari out of business.

Calling into question any "injury" to Sony. They should have to prove they would have made more money without the CFW, otherwise there's no evidence of injury.

In any case, Sony's lawsuits are like trying to force ants back into an anthill one by one.

Only this is a civil case, not a criminal case. He isn't facing any jail time; Sony is trying to bankrupt him, not have him thrown in prison.

erm man u guys change tune so fast its unbelievable when GEO hacked the ps3 using otherOS sony got rid of it with a software "UPDATE" and everyone including me was against GEO saying he is a idiot for doing it and then he just dissappeared now that he made a CFW and he actually done something you are all against him again.

is there any way you guys can be happy? seriously.

Think of it this way Sony did not get rid of the otherOS option they hid it in a software update the only way to get it back is to unhide it somehow (which i cannot do but some hacker clever enough to do it somehow will).

Secondly if you guys are hating on GEO why use any of the jailbreaks and CFW? jailbreaks were really his idea because he gave out some codes and stuff where the psjailbreak team took advantage and the CFW, was his where all other hackers have added their own bits and bobs into GEOs CFW ....

in conclusion rather than actually supporting the guy through a difficult time some of u lot are actually blaming him for whatever he has done man seriously fix up... i think he has done nothing wrong all he wanted to do was get into the video card of ps3 to make linux better for himself then sony pissed him off by removing OtherOS so he done the same and now sony are crying like babies. as he has said time and again he does not endorse piracy which is true he hasnt got piracy in his custom firmware its all homebrew which actually makes it difficult fo sony to sue him or whatever.

Also he did not give out the keys sony did in the last court case they had against jailbreakers. and now sony are blaming him for everything. i agree with some of what you guys are saying he was kinda naive for letting it all get to him but what he done he done not just for himself but for the whole ps3 scene.

Fear is not something a true hacker, cracker or even a frigging script kiddy is afraid of. Why, you ask. Well because most people are smart enough to leak their work out without putting a face on it. Although I do agree with what George is doing. If he wins, then he will have won a war that many people are afraid to step into. If he loses then he will be a martyr to the cause, our right to do WTFE we want with our belongings and either he or someone else will follow and do it again. We will eventually gain the right to use our consoles as we see fit without prejudice.

Final thought: Think of Geo as a revolutionary freedom fighter. We wouldn't be a independent country, USA, if not for people like George. He will stand up and fight for what is right. What have you naysayers done? NOTHING. So put your rude comments away or go work for the enemy!

Man the damage is done, the key has hit the masses,even if sony wins which they won't they lose ,they put a target on there fronts the moment they removed OS lets say they when 1.hackers world wide will soon retaliate 2.law suits will be in abundance from people who paid for systems that had OS and had it removed they were in breach of there own contract then....Fuk U sony i buy american anyway ..:thefinger:

LOL, this is ridiculous, first of all, CFW was not made for piracy. it was made for something else. people should understand although they are getting affected by people who use it a different way that CFW was meant for homebrews and something else, its just happens that piracy is connected by it. we cant be thin minded and blame all the hackers about piracy. Its like blaming America when they bomb hiroshima and thousands of innocent people died in there although they were against war.
