I have a problem (update - I solved it)

Here is my story:

PS3 Phat CECHE01 (US/ntsc) got when on holiday to US.

I followed the instructions exactly and I am having a problem :

result: flashing screen, like a TV with no arial. Sound is working as I can hear the PS3 starting sound.

What I did.

1) downloaded 3.55 OFW, md5 correct.
2) Patched pup and renamed modified pup - md5 correct.

Update via XMB, update from storage disk -> result: already with latest update.

I follow recovery mode update procedure:

3)Turn off PS3, wait for double beep -> wiredcontroller selected -> selected option 5 (update).

4)pressed select and start button together -> copy / installer completes to 100%.

result: flashing screen in cycles (could this be video sync/auth problem).

sometimes I can see something a second then gone.

sound is working

update1: I reverted back to OFW 355 - all xmb working correctly.
update2: tested with prepatched pup in link, same problem.

update3: Joined HDMI lead from PS3 direct to TV (please add this vital info at beginning of tutorial)

update4: Struggled to install pkgs, did'nt know all packages need be on root of storage disk.
I finally got to install PS3UAE !

I am a happy bunny. What can I do now. Where to start ? Install FTP server ? Hmm..

A bit of a noob question here but can you still play PS2 games (from the original disc, not backups) after installing the CFW?

Thanks, working great. I've downloaded the PS3Kmeav.rar pack but there isn't any "kmeaw_cfw_lv2.pkg.rar" inside so I've used the prepatched CFW.

Does it matter what external HDD I get to play backup games or can I just find the cheapest one available and use that?

get what ever one you want just be sure to format it for fat32

Hi everyone, i'm new to this ps3 jailbreak world so i wanna ask 10 question:

1. Can you install more than 1 back up manager? in case if one game doesn't work with particular BM so i can try another BM installed

2. is it important to install multiman 1.16 first before upgrade to 2.00.04?

3. i have multiman 2.00.04 BASE and not use it yet because it contain many pkg files. I'm confused which files should i install:
20110602-161200-GENESIS-PLUS [GENP00001] [multiMAN]
20110602-161300-SNES9X [SNES90000] [multiMAN]
20110602-161700-FCEU [FCEU90000] [multiMAN]
20110603-233800-VBA [VBAM90000] [multiMAN]

multiMAN ver 2.00.04 BASE (20110606_124500) WT
multiMAN ver 2.00.04 BASE (20110606_124500)
etc

what pkg file should i install? should i install it one by one or what?

4. someone said there is modified PUP "3.55kmeaw bdb" for broken bd drives ? did anyone try it? plus how to know whether my BD drive is broken?

5. Is it true that this jailbreak method doesn't work with non-Sony peripheral? because i use SIXAXIS controller...

6. does it matter if don't install blackbox ftp? incase i never transfer games from PS3 to ext hdd..

7. assume there is PS3 game i download from internet. how do i play this downloaded games? should i save this to particular folder such "Games","Gamez", or what? if this is kind of piracy...just don't answer

8. what is BDEMU.pkg? is it something substitute lv2.pkg? should i run BDEMU.pkg everytime i want to run MULTIMAN?

9. can i use my ipod instead of ext HDD? mine is ipod classic 6th generation,120 GB, and FAT32 format

10. can i delete backed up games from internal HDD? in case i don't want to play it anymore and give more space to backup new games

1: Install as many backup managers as you want. Be careful though, diff managers sometimes use different folders for storing your games and stuff.

2: Nah, just go for the most recent version.

3: Install multiMAN ver 2.00.04 BASE (20110606_124500) (without the WT at the end) and Multiman itself will be installed. Search for BDEMU2 on the forums, you will find a link within the last few days, install that too. Install any emulators you wish to have incorporated into multiman. You're good to go.

4: Unsure, I'd just get the BD drive replaced.

5: If you're able to jailbreak, then you just need to rock a USB drive for installing the CFW. After install, nothing is necessary. I think you're thinking of the old dongle method.

6: You don't necessarily need it, but I've found FTP useful for the PS3 in certain cases, like navigating the files/folders on the PS3 comfortably from my computer.

7: No answer I guess?

8: BDEMU is no longer required. Neither is LV2. Get BDEMU2. You'll be good.

9: If it's FAT32 it should work, but don't have one to try with.

10: Yes, you can delete, recopy, w/e you want. FTP is useful for this, but so are file managers. Multiman makes it pretty easy in and of itself. Hope that helps you.

(The WT means they are sign for wutangRZA firmware which is just signed with geohot's keys, Kmaew can install these too)

4. there are kmeaw bdb pups out there. yes people have tried it, if the drive is dead you can still use home brew if the drives logic board is broken homebrew and such will not work. Can you put a cd/dvd in and have it work? what about a ps3 game or blu-ray movie?

IF IT IS BROKEN YOU WILL BE BETTER OFF GETTING A REPLACEMENT!

5. after firmware 3.50 sony blocked most third party peripherals becuase of jb dongles

6.MultiMAN has a FTP built in

7.You will find no help with piracy around here

8.BDEMU has the syscals required to run your LEGAL back-ups (lv2 patcher can cuase a lot of freezing if you use it to play games....I have never had any games freeze using bdemu) You want BDEMU 2 for multiman 2.00.00+

9. no clue on this you can try but i think you would be better off with an ext hdd

10. YES, multiMAN makes this easy and pain free
