I can confirm it working on the east coast of th U.S. and how would SONY know what im doing if im NOT signed into their server but still online leading me to ask is it LEAGLE for SONY to do that because im online but not signed in and SONY has NO RIGHT to look into what i do or play on MY ps3 that I paid $500 bucks for if im NOT doing anything on THEIR server so if i get banned then ill sue SONY for internet intrusion/spying LOL and the way its looking for them now i would most likely win LOL! LOL!

so dont worry about it as long as the hackers can find a way around it there will always be CFW and SONY will do like a five year old and stomp their feet and flop around on the ground whining and crying screaming "I DONT LIKE HACKERS" and their mommy and daddy will punch them in the mouth and say "DEAL WITH IT AND EAT YOUR BRUSSEL SPROUTS" and everyone will laugh and SONY will die a little inside and isnt that what lif is all about.

Go ahead and call me a scaredycat pussy but what do I do to update from kmeaw 3.55 to 3.56OFW without fear of bricking or banning. I want to play online more than I want CFW and everthing it comes with.

P.S. I can't use the DNS trick

I heard that it removes the ''Update via Storage Media'' function also.
Can anybody confirm?
If so It's a even more serious reason why we should sue Sony for removing stuff from that piece of metal and plastic...
Huh seriously, I was thinking to buy a PSP2.
Now I'll skip... ...and I bet I belong to a majority of costumers... ...I just had enough. END NADA SONY.

well my ps3 is not bricked but it's on official lock down until a new cfw release. so glad i have two. one to test stuff on and the other to install the good stuff. i'm just going to stay offline for awhile.

It does not. Please read through the thread first before asking questions. They've probably already been answered.

Example being, people have been testing geohot's when they update. It recognizes it, and then beeps only 3 times (meaning it doesn't work).

Big thanks to Kmeaw, have enjoyed catching up with old friends and playing my legit (copy of Bad Company 2 (which is much better on PC btw) and most of all, I don't have to cold boot, power, eject to play homebrew anymore! WOOT!

As for USB updates, who cares? It would be so easy to bypass. We have Blu-Ray emulation so a simple bit of work with ftp would have a "game" disc loaded with custom update.pup in no time!

Me, I'm glad $ony has updated. The more practice these legends get at cracking/customising firmware versions the better. Still hoping for that proper Linux install procedure.
