Doesn't take a genius to figure out that they just fixed the ECDSA signing failure in the parts of the firmware that are easy to do (lv1, lv2, isoldr, vsh modules). The only question is whether they attempted to white-list old games or not (I bet not) or AACS drive revocation and new keys (maybe).

I tried to get some more info on this update and ended up running into this on the Playstation Forums. If you were to blindly stumple upon this, you just might think that "hackers" enabled a type of grand armegedon of sorts that the legit user now has to deal with & blah, blah, blah.
