Bad news for Geohot as Sony has been granted a Temporary Restraining Order for Geohot. It has also been ruled that Sony has enough reason to keep the court case in San Fransisco. PSX-Scene has gotten the court documents below:

Guys dont panic, this is exactly what it says. A temp restraining order, put in place untill such times that the facts of the case can be heard.

Off topic, I have ripped my games to my PS3 slim hard drive. How do I connect the PC to my PS3 so I can access the hard drive and update my games (through that windows updater programme) and also what is the quickest way to back up my PS3 hard drive games to another harddrive?

Well, the PS3 scene will go on without him. This won't stop PS3 hackers. In fact, this will make PS3 hacking explode. By threating people, Sony has alerted MANY more people about these hacks, so it seems like their intentions backfired. Who at Sony thought threatening legal action against a hacker was a good idea when they should've known it'd be all over the biggest tech sites?

Obviously this is bad news for geohot, but this aside, a part of me wants to see where this actually goes.

From what I understand, he's not actually done anything wrong apart from blowing his own trumpet a bit too much.

However Sony are arguing two key things
1) That he has no right to do what he wants with the PS3
2) That this directly causes losses to Sony and partners (EA specifically quoted)

For part 1, if this gets overturned this could be a landmark ruling for jailbreaking.

For part 2, is this gets thrown out then Sony will have basically admitted that their negligence alone has caused losses for their partners (Whether this is true remains to be proved, but if they argue this, they must believe it).

End result is that 3rd parties may be able to sue Sony for their negligence.
