Thumbs down Sony and Retail vs Consumers

I have another question. If you purchase a console from say Best Buy, and pay for the preset-up/firmware update that they do as a service. They will even setup your PSN account for you. So, in this retrospect, you do not agree or see any EULA at all. Does this make Sony responsible since they are an authorized reseller? if a person does not agree to the EULA, can they return it without a restocking fee? If they open a brand new game, and need to update firmware (since 3.56 removed usb updatability..so i hear) and cannot upgrade firmware due to no internet connectivity for the device(hey some people don't have wireless routers/cables strewn everywhere), can they return it to best buy and fore go the non-return ability of opened software packages? I am just wondering how this is going to change consumer retail practices as well? Guess SONY DOESN'T REALIZE that by REMOVING this usb update FEATURE, they are LIMITING the CONSOLE. Yes, i know i am stretching it by saying that a 3.56 game requirement exists as of right now, but I was just trying to state features and availability of modern USA retail practices that exist that go against this new model. How is a consumer to know without a disclaimer on the box...Requires X.XX firmware to play? OtherOS for Linux was removed. Which was plainly stated in ads and the box that i have this feature.(launch 60gb model) In later models, usb ports and backwards compatibility was removed. Now offline firmware updates are also removed. Yet the current slogon is "Simply does Everything" or "Make.Believe". Yet no box or statements say... BTW, you may not be able to play games offline if you don't go online and update first or have a firmware requirement stated. Some places require restocking fee just for opening the box. THIS IS NOT FAIR PRACTICE, as you do not have the EULA printed outside the box before purchasing, as you would like purchasing a car, home, etc.

:musicus: 'profixit' geohot IS in the limelight as always what's new and don't forget he's just a kid, and like any kid, he wants fame and money. Above all of this, he wants to be the face of the ps3 exploit he worked so hard on day and night.

Good for him, whilst other people his age are still rapping/singing/acting for limelight, he went and did something no one else did. Whatever your response is, you'll see if you look back in time that the most controversial leaps into the limelight have sometimes been the most spoken about.

Try and be happy for him (and grateful if you're using someones CFW), and watch him walk away from the courts with more press on his case.
