Sad thing I think is all these Steve Jobs and Playstation brains started out by hacking into other developers ideas and work. Geohot was trying to make the system better even offering his help to improve the console yet they try to take him down like it would be the last straw. There will be more and it will never end. The more hardware you sell the more someone will try to improve or modify what you do. Who is to say what rims I put on my 20,000 car or how fast I decide to drive? yes I may break some laws but as long as I dont harm another person I con freely do as I please as a consumer.

After all this lawsuit and all the things that Sony has done to annoy us,I am not going to buy anything else from them!

So they will cut out the feautures that i had payed for (ex. linux) and when i will try to use this feauture they will sue me and put me to jail?

Corporations get away with whatever they want. Right now in Canada, 3rd party ISP's are being FORCED to charge for anything over 25 gigs a month!!! They're claiming that it's unfair competition. I left Rogers because they were charging me for anything over 60 gigs, now they're legally forcing 3rd party ISP's to rip us off. This is supposedly a free market economy? Instead of making a better product or offering a better service, they just make it illegal to HAVE A F**KING OPTION?????
These guys don't work for Sony, so there's no breach of contract. They can't just invent laws - our guys aren't selling or copying or distributing private software/games. They're not even selling their OWN software!! What's next - I can't grow my own veggies for fear it will hurt sales at the supermarket? Piracy is already illegal, and if I partake in it and get caught, well, it's illegal so I can be prosecuted. On line gaming is a great way to make money, and it, like the PC online games, it's always best to buy the game if you want to partake.
This is just the spoiled little corporation jumping up and down, pointing because it doesn't get what it wants - fair or not. Imagine a world where they always get what they want, because it's happening, and we're doing nothing.

Look, I run a big website, and I will host ANYTHING, for ANYONE, no matter how large, or how much traffic. I really dont care.

I went through this with Sony on the PS2, when we were making Code Majic, and I will support ANY Developers on the PS3, in any way possible, even if I must go to court.

I understand to a degree that Sony must try to protect its assets, and at the very least must appear as though they are making an attempt to stop what's going on.

I have owned all Sony consoles (aswell as other Sony products), as many, many people have. I was very annoyed a while back due to various acts Sony were carrying out and was edging ever closer to not purchasing their products.

I do not use PSN and stopped buying games even though there are many I wished to play, a futile gesture on my own.

However what Sony fails to realise is, no matter how much they try to save face and appease shareholders, gaming is a hobby enjoyed by many, as is hacking, coding, etc.

If they continue this aggression towards the very people who keep them in business, they will quite simply destroy their own company.

Over the last decade Sony have brought quite alot to the gaming sector, and established themselves at the top of media / gaming, all this can be undone a hell of alot quicker than it took to build.

Finally Sony's probably going crazy due to the fact the PSP2 has been announced. Firstly all media attention is being drawn away from their second prized asset, secondly and most importantly, as mentioned before less and less poeple are going to want to invest in a product whereby Sony implement such ridiculous (and illegal) terms and conditions and strip features on a premium cost product.

i don't care, i'll still be buying games, i can afford them, if someone don't , he should play them. original games are more fun than pirated ones. it's nice that sony tries to win this, i want them to win, i want them to have unpirated console again.hope they 'll ban every single one who played pirated games

To all of those who are boycotting sony for such obvious reasons:
-Don't forget that they have music and movie branches (not that anyone is going to buy it anyway)
-Don't forget that they make LCD screens under the name, "ST Liquid Crystal Display Corporation"...these are found in many cell phones and cars...these are almost exclusively OLED displays. Toyota uses these displays for almost every model that comes with a touch screen.
-Don't forget that they make batteries for Acer, Dell, Apple, IBM/Lenova, HP, and Toshiba laptops. Not every laptop from these brands has a Sony battery...but Sony did make many of the batteries (almost every laptop battery recall you hear about is for Sony batteries).

Anyone remember a few years back when Sony stated disabling hardware virtualization in order to avoid unspecified security threats that never existed? We should have seen this whole mess coming back then.

my ps3 straight way to the junk before i break it in pieces.
and never ever gonna buy anything from sony.
i have seen enought, they cannot own tat what they cannot buy.
btw. i had original BD.. which didnt worked cause with time drive gone broken.. ofc that error is on purpose cause many of consoles had that problem. man, i have never seen some console with soooo many errors...
than after BD issue i downloaded tons of games from PSN.. payed them very legaly.. sine 3.50 that PSN games stoped working?!?!
i was wtf!!
it was fors time i started to search alternatives or firmware patches not to play cracked games, but to start playing things i PAYED.
i wasnt long time on this forums but enought for me to see that HITLER regime that sony has.. honestly im sick of them, and if you are human you should be to.

the best idea i have is to everyone take their ps3, send it with wanting money back.. i bet ther s**t would froze cause such a money loss..
