I have started to make a remote control system for RS-232 interfaces through PL-2303

I have started to make a remote control homebrew for RS-232 interfaces through PL-2303 based USB adapters; primarily for controlling home cinema devices, the first device to make a controller for is the HDMI KVM switch ATEN VS0801H, when that works I will make for ONKYO receivers.

Anyone interested in participating?

In essence there will be a menu hierarchy controllable from the PS3 remote controll that will be able to operate your receiver, anything from MUTE to channel selection.

Also some KVM switches has this ability.

Tasks
  • Buy PL-2303 RS232 USB for each device you would like to control( The one I bought was £2.70)
  • Collect commands for desired devices( proposals are welcome )
  • Make entry in XMB for different connected devices( I would like help on this one, which types of code can run from XMB without interrupting the current game or application? Does the PS3 have a scripting language? BD-J? )

I already have command charts for
  • Onkyo receivers( Onkyo_RS-232_RCVR_061207.xls )
  • KVM switch ATEN VS0801H( HDMI )
