I have started to make a remote control homebrew for RS-232 interfaces through PL-2303 based USB adapters; primarily for controlling home cinema devices, the first device to make a controller for is the HDMI KVM switch ATEN VS0801H, when that works I will make for ONKYO receivers.

Anyone interested in participating?

In essence there will be a menu hierarchy controllable from the PS3 remote controll that will be able to operate your receiver, anything from MUTE to channel selection.

Also some KVM switches has this ability.

Tasks

Buy PL-2303 RS232 USB for each device you would like to control( The one I bought was £2.70)
Collect commands for desired devices( proposals are welcome )
Make entry in XMB for different connected devices( I would like help on this one, which types of code can run from XMB without interrupting the current game or application? Does the PS3 have a scripting language? BD-J? )

I already have command charts for

Onkyo receivers( Onkyo_RS-232_RCVR_061207.xls )
KVM switch ATEN VS0801H( HDMI )
