Sony is a big corporation with a big reach. They have PSN. There is no point to homebrew. If you wanted to use homebrew to play emulators for SNES or N64 or PS1 games then you should have bought a SNES or an N64 or a PS1. A playstation 3 is meant for 2 things. To play Playstation 3 games and to run authorized software. Take for example someone codes a ps3 homebrew masquerading as an emulator or something but it actually steals your credit card information or some other private information. That wouldn't be good. Geohot was an idiot for releasing a jailbreak and stupidly saying that it wasn't meant to play backups. He should have just jailbroken his own console and not released it out to the public. Now the PS3 might take the same road that the psp took. Developers will most likely abandon the ps3 to the more favorable XBOX. This is because while piracy exists on the xbox, it is most likely in a lesser degree as the ps3.
