My sarcasm is "valid" because it mocks the fake holier than thou attitude I received.

If it is the sites policy that we discuss everything in a legal manner, then that's fine by me. But let's not judge others and decide to twist their words into intent to commit illegal activity, it would have been just as easy for him to say "interesting theory but let's not discuss it in a way that supports anyway doing it to steal games". Because it has to be intentionally inferred that I meant it in an illegal way, as I did not say "in order to steal games".

And you think it's "legal" to take someone else's PSID to get online?!?!? Of course there are legal ways to do it, it just depends how you want to use the ability.

So with consideration for being legit and legal, my question still stands. There does not have to be anything illegal or immoral in it at all.

First of all I NEVER said anything about using "anothers ID to obtain material they have paid for". I guess you are inferring that from the words "someone else downloaded", I guess I should have been clearer and said "downloaded on an unmodded PS3". I merely meant that that it had been downloaded from a unmodded PS3 with access to PSN, I did not mean someone else's PSN account as downloads are tied to system ID not PSN account anyway.

Maybe a poor choice of words on my part, but I hardly think the holier than thou judgment was a reasonable response. Why not just choose to infer that I meant it in a entirely legal way (which of course I did ).

You can infer that I meant to steal the game if you choose, just as I can infer anyone who talks about Backup Managers is a pirate, or anyone who mods their PS3 is a pirate for that matter. It does not make it so. I can also choose to infer that they are only modding for 100% legal reasons, or you could choose to infer that my interest in this was for entirely legal reasons.

My response was merely mocking the uncalled for self righteous judgment of me. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone", and I'm betting there are few members of "PS3HAX" only interested in 100% legit uses of their PS3.

Let me AGAIN propose to you a scenario in which this could be done entirely legally and morally. And then without judgment maybe we can assess if it is possible.

I own 2 PS3's, one is for my son when at his grandparents and is unmodded, the other is in our home and is modded. I want to buy a PSN game and play it on both systems, however since I cannot access PSN on the modded system, it seems plausible that the PSN download is tied to the PSID. If I spoofed the PSID of my unmodded PS3 (the one the game was purchased on and tied to) on the modded one, would that be enough to allow me to play the PSN game I LEGALLY purchased on both my systems?

Or same scenario but I use a friends unmodded PS3 to use my own PSN account and money to buy the game (as I wrote in my second post).
Simple answer is I have no idea lol

Although if it did work and you used the modded PS3 (ID spoofed) online (as in connected to internet not just PSN) with the game installed Sony would then see that it and be able to ban that ID thus banning the unmodded one so you would then have got 2 banned for the price of one.

Well my intent would be never to take the modded one online. In my case I am blocking all sony's servers through my router, but for the sake of discussion let's say I kept it offline altogether.

You see I would love to buy Back to the Future, but as I cannot access PSN I cannot. But if I used a unmodded machine I have access to to purchase it and then was able to spoof the PSID from that machine, maybe I can then play it on my own.

It's worth I try I think. The other issue I see is how to get the PSN game off the unmodded PS3.
