its easier to install gparted (sudo apt-get install gparted), find your device in the gui, and format it to swap that way, then just mount the device rather than a swap file.

well, ok.. tried sudo apt-get install gparted, but it did not install anything!
"gparted already installed" "0 upgraded 0 installed 0 removed" then i write gparted (in terminal) "all polling failed. only uid 0 is authorized" also, editing the fstab, after i save it i get a gtk warning."attempting to store changes in ...... but failed......." ignore the gtk warning, the changes are actually saved. And use sudo gparted to format your device.

What is the fastest of the card readers of the PS3? Is there a list somewhere saying the speeds for each card reader?

Trying to combine the 10 img files to one, any help would be appreciated.
Hi. I've finally figured out how to mount all the img files to loopback devices; however, when I used mdadm to create a raid 0 device, the partition comes up as unknown (which is what shows up if I boot to ubuntu on the ps3 with your 10 img files). So I figured I'd dd it to an img file, but if I try to boot from the one .img file in linux, it doesn't boot, something about tty and a #. PS. Just use gparted on a windows box to format a flash with swap, and when you boot up the ps3 with the usb swap device, it will USE IT AUTOMATICALLY! Then use sudo mkswap /dev/ps3vram sudo swapon -p1 /dev/ps3vram to get 254MB more of swap space on your ps3vram! To make changes permanent, add the commands to sudo gedit /etc/rc.local before the "exit 0" statement. Last edited by thistleknot; 02-24-2011 at 08:33 AM. |

I seem to have problems with this. The video you showed is running 5 times faster as what I'm seeing. I can't even go on Mozilla Firefox. I click on it, it pops and disappears.
Help? |

Did you read the README? you likely havent created a swap device and edited your /etc/fstab as instructed in the readme (Its available both on my first post in this thread, and on the desktop of the install).
Also I forgot to remove mozilla and install a better client (firefox seems to hog to much ram, and does slow everything else right down. You'll notice a speed increase once you have closed it. I recommend you do... sudo apt-get remove firefox then sudo apt-get install chrome not sure the second cmd will work as im not 100% there is an apt package for it, but you can compile from source.)
