Whatever are people's opinions of Sony's actions, good or bad, i have to admit i kind of respect that they are the first company that is standing up and actually fighting piracy.

Prior to this gen of consoles, everything was hacked, and the most action one could expect was being banned from online access and even that, not always.

No, the homebrew stuff made by Geo, fail etc is not piracy, it's just opening up the system, which is legal cause it is your system, but honestly, saying that is unrelated to piracy (running illegal games etc) is the same as saying having unprotected sex has nothing to do with getting STDs.

Of course when a system is open it would lead to piracy (PC anyone?)

All of the actions by sony right now are kind of meaningless, because in the end it is the court's decision that will make the difference, so guess we have to wait for that to see where this will go.
