Ps3 slim yellow light and ps3 warranty help

Hey i currently have a ps3 slim that i bought 3 years extended warranty from sonycare for. I run x3max jailbreak on it and dont use psn and do not want to update to custom firmware as that totally voids warranty. Now i was wondering if god forbid my ps3 gets yellowlight and i have to send it into sony for repair, could i possibly take the hdd out and put it into another working ps3 and format it so the backup manager and 3rd party programs i used dont appear when they are inspecting it? Currently after ever use i use wipe history program that cleans my history just in case.. HELP!

just format the HDD you should be fine, but they will wonder why its formatted, since you cant access it to reinstall the FW on it due to yellow light
im sure nothing else is stored to its small flash after update.
your slim should be free from problems during the warranty.
