In-game music

Now that we have the PS3 opened is it possible to finally implement in-game music playback?

It was all the buzz back in the day before people gave up on sony delivering.

I do believe it was because the game dev's wanted everyone to listen to there game soundtrack as they were getting payed to push certain track mainstream.

I would like to see that too.
Some games allow you to play music while playing the game so maybe its only a matter of swapping a file or something. anyway Im not a dev I dont know how to do it but maybe its possible!

Whats it do? the plugin on the psp lets you play any song (mp3 or whatever) and then launch a game and the mp3 keeps playing?

A plugin is like an addon to the firmware. Many plugins exist for the PSP, but that's because the PSP has true CFW. The PS3 doesn't have true CFW (yet), so we can't bend the firmwares around. That's one reason why we don't have in-game music.

Why cant we change the file in the game then? for example i can listen to my own music when playing ModNation Racers but not Fallout NewVegas so can we swap the file that allows music to be played between the two games?
I dont have a clue of programming its just a thought.
