Hi guys...


So I just jailbreaked my PS3 this week and I have a question regarding a msg that keeps poing up.


I'm using Blackbox FTP to copy my backups from my PC to my PS3.
After that, when I run the game, a msg pops up tha reads the following:

"The latest update data for this software has been found.
To sign in and use this Software, you must update the software to the latest version.
The system will quit the software and start installing.

Version 1.01"


This is when starting the game Crysis 2 and it also pops out during gameplay every ~30mins. I just have to press cancel and it goes back to the game.


While playing LittleBigPlanet 2 this also happens. This are the 2 games I've tried so far.


Someone said this was probably a FW update but I don't think it is because of the mentioning of V 1.01.

Has anyone come accross this situation? Should I perform this update? I'm a bit scared of getting bricked.

It's safe to update your games. Do it.

A Firmware update is only required when you try signing into PSN OR playing games online.

Ok. Found this at PS3-Hacks FAQ:

"Q."When I start a game, it says there is an update. Will this update my console? Should I do it?"
A.Game updates are not system updates! To do it or not is up to you, but they sometimes break compatibility.

Q."Ok, I don't want to do the game update, but they keep popping up.."
A.Why do you have your internet connected to your PS3 which can't go online? Disconnect the internet."
