New GUI for Emulators.
So, i was thinking now that libwiigui is released. maybe its about time we start giving off some design ideas incase for instance squarepusher wants to implement them? i for one miss any kind of.. snazz when selecting my games. not needed really. but makes for a more complete package
![]() idea for making those pictures appear. supermarioworld.smc supermarioworld.jpeg having a correctly named image in the same folder as the ROM itself.

I like the idea, but I think it would be better off if images were implemented into a seperate folder, I know it's being picky but I don't like to see things cluttered.

wow that would be amazing. But I'd have to agree with Lethal, the images for the boxarts should be in one big image directory where the possible skins and boxarts could be placed. And somehow the new emulator will load the images from THAT directory allowing it to show up. And of course for me if I was using boxarts I'd probably use the Super Famicom Boxarts instead of Snes ones lol well mmm maybe for the US version I will use their US snes boxart and then for the Japanese versions I'd use Super Famicom. Or if it's going to be one that has its own boxarts already in it and not a directory...then I'd hope they got every boxart for every game, and region. Or else that could be messy. Because if it had built in ones...what if I was playing a japanese Super Famicom game and there was no boxart? What would happen in the new emulator? Would it be this huge red x? lol Or would it show up as like...Donky Kong or somthing? lol See thats why a Image directory would be great, it would allow us to put in the boxarts of games WE are going to be playing. Not some pre-made one "assuming" gamers won't bother touching Super Famicom games. Because I always do. So allowing the gamer to put his or her own boxarts in would be really fun. Infact what if it was a game hack/rom hack? We could create our own boxart for it and add it to the directory. See what I am getting at here?

Putting images into a seperate folder would be better yes, less clutter... as for ROMS without boxart. you could have a standard picture of a snes casette with only a label wich has "SNES" on it.. ill make one later or tomorrow and post it here. hope squarepusher sees this!
also, categories would be awesome! Like the album function on the xmb. so we could sort our FF's from Donkey kongs! i have tried looking at some code, so far.. its all gibberish to me, but who knows, maybe i can contribute someday.. i really want to... |
