Sounds like someone wants a Kinect and doesn't want to pay for it.

Im a long time visitor and first time poster. what people dont realize is that identity theft doesn't happen right away and could take years before it occurs, on top of that (as a former victim) it is more then just money and credit they are after, they can go after benefits, file false insurance claims (home, auto, etc), and above all things lie to a peace officer during a arrest and\or ticket that they will never pay or show up to court for and then you got charges on you for violations you never did or were apart of. On top of that (not trying to glorify the criminals) the id thieves are not stupid, they are smart, they don't just use your information, they can get several identities and have them all co-sign on one loan to ensure a bigger amount. Even if you got absolute proof you are a victim of identity theft, it is really hard to prove to companies, loans, and courts that it wasnt you, the reason being, the criminals used all the identifying information that is used to identify you. With simple passwords and address, you can obtain peoples driver's license numbers or have a reprint sent to them, the same with bank cards, and even obtain your social. Believe me and Trust me, there are incredible smart id thieves out there and they will ruin your finances and crimes. My **** happened in 2006 and I am still having to deal with this stuff, over 150,000$ in loans was open up in my name along with 3 co-signors, they were able to convince my bank it was me on the phone and got a new bank card and check book ordered to their hotel address and left my account in the negatives of well over 2,000$. They did get a hold of my health insurances and did cost visits that left me with bill collectors saying i still owe high co-payments. Dont take this issue lighty, I nearly lost my house and my wife just had a new born at the time. Watch your credit and check your bank/insurances/ and check court houses to make sure no one is getting booked under your name. it is not a GOOD thing. I would of rather of been raped by 8 big dudes all cover with hair on a beach with no lube then to go through that mess again.

Sure them sueing people because they were just modifying PS3 giving out hacks ect ect. Who the **** wouldn't. No one in there right mind in this world would not do something stupid for Lots of money. So IF this does get worse, It could get worse for ALL ps3 players hackers or not.

well in my opinion its a double edge sword with SONY on one side and DEVS/Hackers on the other....if they sue SONY for this incident then they'll also take care of piracy/hacking seriously. They may apply new policies that would make devs to stay them to their homes...But as a legit gamer or not this ancident is really BAD and US officials had no option just to ask SONY for it and THEY SHOULD.....Bottom line for SONY from me is
"ur TOS wont be saving u this time and just get ready to be F*C*ED for real this time"

"IT ONLY GETS TO BE FU**ED HARDER"
SONY

The TOS from 3.15 is null and void since you cannot log into PSN with 3.15.

the TOS is not null and void unless you accept any later TOS. if you do not accept any later then the 3.15 TOS still stands as that is the latest one you accepted

The sad part of this is that Sony might use this incident as an exemple of why
it should be illegal to modify your consoles. and solid regulations could be made in their favor, even though its their security system that has allways been lame. this changes the perception that the normal people have when they think of hackers.

everytime a theft like this one will happen, geohot, FOF and all the other devs that are actualy good for the computer scene will be viewed more and more as criminals. UNLESS, some skillfull lawers make it clear that it is LEGAL for the costumers to modify their Sony computer systems, as much as any mobile devices or EVERY other computer system that exists!

To go even more further, I beleive there is a chance that this whole attack was orchestrated by the inside to serve the purpose of making more laws that suppres consumer's rights. maybe Sony settled geo's case cause they knew that they had to wait just a little more before the could win, and win everytime...

I hope i'm wrong. but after everything we've seen since 2k, seems likely to say the least.

this has not 1 thing to do with the console itself.
this was a fail on sonys servers. hacking the console would not achieve this result

This

You guys should be hoping that sony doesn't even set foot in court.
