According to online reports, Sony had fired ~200 employees from SOE a few days before the PSN massive attack which led to the compromise of user personal information. I just hope Sony sit back and take a long hard look at this, then start treating their customers fairer.

Good news....
Sony has not only pissed on their customers, but their employees too. Im not surprised to be honest that this happened.
I wonder if the higher-ups have PSN with CC numbers on the account...I bet one of the employees will have a very nice birthday present lol /I believe you have my stapler... //and the 57 staples....I want those too! |

The plot thickens... But i doubt we will ever know who took the data, Even if it was a sony employee. As Sony would do all it could to burry the truth as they dont want to have to admit this whole mess had nothing to do with the hackers what so ever.
But on the off chance it that did come out, That it was in fact a sony empoyee it would be priceless lol.

Yeah I did have my wonders about it being an inside job, especially when they kept mentioning physical security. There just seemed no reason to mention it.
Their diagram also shows the 'hacker' got in via the application server which only permits internal communication. Therefore either the diagram is wrong or it has to be an inside job as any external hacker would not be able to gain access to the application server if it only serves (according to the diagram) internal network traffic and doesn't have an external IP. And if it does, then it doesn't serve only internal traffic! Also I think if I were Sony I would rather it was an internal employee rather than a hacker, I don't think they're try to bury it. It would mean the security of their system is 'still secure' in the sense that someone who has access to it anyway has done the damage. It would be like a guy who works at a bank taking money from the safe. You wouldn't blame the security of the safe itself if the employee has the ability to open it. |
