[QUOTE=bobshi;197159

Their diagram also shows the 'hacker' got in via the application server which only permits internal communication. Therefore either the diagram is wrong or it has to be an inside job as any external hacker would not be able to gain access to the application server if it only serves (according to the diagram) internal network traffic and doesn't have an external IP. And if it does, then it doesn't serve only internal traffic!
open it.[/QUOTE]

this is what i said when they put the diagram up the communications tool was introduced directly into the server no firewall not web server no psn server nothing more than an inside job hahahahha thats what happens when sony gets greedy and tries to make money off of a problem. you cant make money all the time.

Un-hash passwords? NO. They may know the salt, they may know the method used.. BUT YOU CANNOT DECRYPT A HASH.
If it's encrypted, yes fine. Hashed, no.

On a side note, an inside job gives the motive - but what reports I've read by various hackers, it wouldn't have been too hard for anyone.

Say there is a cfw 3.60, why release it now, why not wait until sony release ofw 3.6x then hack that.

But as stated by someone else, the hackers have got their linux back, so most of them have gone back down into the basement, only a few left that are willing to try, and most of them may be worried about sony tracking them down and suing them, we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I doubt it was an ex employee. It would make life a lot easier for Sony if it was. Probably some for profit hackers.

Priority problem for Sony:

Share-holders can kill Sony in only one day and make their company almost worthless, customers can't. They can start boycotting but it takes some time before effects will be noticed.
This makes share-holders more important imho ?

And you are actually correct, only the share-holders money is important to Sony, not the investor himself. Just like with their customers
