Hello everyone,
i wanted to change the thermal paste again on my 40GB FAT PS3 because last time i did it it was a cheap thermal paste so i won't risk anything because of that and want to change it now. So i have a question, which thermal paste is the best for the PS3 in overall ? And after that question please answer me if Arctic Cooling is a good enough thermal paste for it because i can't find anything better at the moment, and is it better to buy Arctic Cooling MX-4 or Arctic Cooling MX-2 ? And the last one, when should i do the re-applieing of the thermal paste again when i do it now ? Thank in advance.

this is what i use on all heatsinks. ps3/360/pc
its not made for the purpose but with its extremely high silver content it makes the perfect substitute for transferring heat. the only thing to watch out for is its equally high conductivity so only a little is needed and must be used very thin. i dont use any hardener when i apply it so i can get the heatsink off at any time i want to. the resin cures to a point on its own but wont bond the surfaces together on its own. i find it better than all other pastes i have tried. the next best thing i used was arctic silver 5. at the moment i have it on my xenon jtag 360 and the temps have dropped from 70+ degrees celcius at idle to 48 degrees maximum after heavy use. if you cant get it for free though i think the cost is around £65 for 15g but i use it at work so i always have a good supply of pots with only small amounts left that i can liberate. as for replacing paste. i would be tempted to reapply each year to make sure its going to last and also to have an excuse to clean all the components

Hmm i didn't knewed that Arctic Silver 5 is that much expensive :S
Anyway it's way to expensive for my budget and i can't find it here, so does anyone know if Arctic Cooling is good enough ? I have read that it is very good too, and i found it not much expensive .... So should i choose MX-2 or MX-4 ? BTW thanks anyone for the replies
