You can't cater to the thieves. I work in a retail store and watch people steal all the time. But when it comes down to it. you can't make your product to unusable because of a few pirates. I think removing portable media would flop the entire device. Look at the Ipad. Yes it's successful but so restricted that many users are looking elsewhere because it has basically no use when it can't get online.
