PS2 Softmod guide?

i have searched the net and really cant find an outright/easy ps2 softmod guide? Could someone point me in the right direction. I have a ps2 slim. trying to softmod it so i can backup all of my games. WOuld love to back them up on an external hard drive, if that dont work, i will just use a dvd R. Is there an easy step 2 step guide top softmod a ps2 slim?

the website wants you to send your memeory card to them and they said they will install mcboot. Is there anywhere that you can download it and do it yourself?

There are so many different variations of soft modding a ps2. Do you have a fat or a slim? Do you have Action Replay Max, 007 Agent Under Fire, Any PS1 games to use as a "trigger disc", etc... are all questions that should be answered before pointing anyone to a guide.

If you have 007, I think I still have a copy of the modded iso you would need to make uploaded that would speed things up a bit, if not, it's pretty easy to modify it yourself. It's by far the easiest way I know of other than sending your MC to someone and having them install Free MCBoot on it for you.

Your better off getting a fat with network adaptor , games run crappy off a USB harddrive because it's only 1.0 USB

Thanks, superfurry

i have a slim ps2 and a copy of 007. i have the iso disk and all the files. i am ready. i actually followed this guide below

‪How To SoftMod a PS2 SLIM Without a MODCHIP OR SWAP MAGIC! Tutorial Part 1/3‬‏ - YouTube

‪How To SoftMod a PS2 Slim Without a MODCHIP or SWAPMAGIC! Tutorial Part 2/3‬‏ - YouTube

‪How To SoftMod a PS2 SLIM Without a MODCHIP OR SWAPMAGIC! Tutorial! Part 3/3‬‏ - YouTube

everything worked out great until i got to the very end. I formatted my 8mb mc and and then i installed the multi install. everything installed then the mcboot logo flashed then the screen went black. so i restated my ps2 and the ps2 still works and everything but the memory card no longer works. the ps2 will not read the mc at all in either slot. ??? I tried mc annihilator and that will not read the mc as well? any suggestions?

you need to install freemcboot, look up a tutorial, its super easy, ur also going to need one of those code cd's i forget but you will use it to put the modified file from your pc onto the memory card...ill go look it up and be back

you will need this:

it's the easiest way to write the modified/hacked file to the memory card, thats why that website wants u to send them your card...may i ask how much they are charging because u should just order the action replay max and do it yourself

ok noticed u were able to get past this part, how did you write modified file to memory card?
