I was just helping a guy with the same exact problem... unfortunately he couldnt get his ps3 into service mode using a psp and as far as I can tell he was doing everything correctly. His ps3 wouldnt respond to a jig, wouldnt go into recovery mode and wouldnt boot to the xmb. I believe this happened because the flash wasnt setup for the otherOS++ install but the bootflag was changed anyway. The way to reset the bootflag (similar to entering recovery mode) wasnt working either. You may have to wait for the NORway project (using the teensy2.0++ dev board) or the progskeet project or something similar to be released. Sorry for the bad news but on the brighter side one of those devices should be able to fix your problem. It shouldnt be to long until one of those methods is available. Good luck and hope this helps.
