It may be dead for you as at an educated guess you need your PSN fix on CFW, but Me and many others don't need that fix so for us it is not dead. Simples

The scene is very much alive and kicking again. Actually things have been picking up significantly and haven't been this busy since before $ony started their legal crusade against community devs.
Some people have guts and I respect that. :-) |

I think it's just a scare tactic. They have no way of knowing who leaked it unless there's an internet connection involed.

There is only one fesible way I can think of that they could do the "remote brick" the way described. They would have to make it required to be connected to the internet to install the firmware somehow, and have the console id for the specific tester built into the install (there are very few ways of hiding this from hash checks with other installs {if and only if, they are trying to hide it from one specific hash method, otherwise pretty darn close to impossible} and it would require a ridiculous amount of work). Then if the ps3 id doesn't match, it would tell DH the id of the console trying to install and the id of the tester it belongs to and then proceed to brick and brick the tester it belongs to next time he connects to the internet. 'Course if the tester never connects to the internet after installing it, then there would be no way to brick him.
