Idea

Jest wondering whether it would be possible to load back up ps2 or ps1 games using the Sony memory card adapter for the ps3 and the memor32 memory card for the ps2.

What's your thoughts?

as far as i know... not possible.
PS1/2 on PS3 is emulated (100% software emulated on PS3 80gb) and software protected on PS3 60gb.

So yeah... it doesn't work. Sorry.

The problem with the memory card adaptor is it´s only to transfer saves. You don´t actually use it to load your saves. You have to transfer the save first to the virtual memory card. so you would have to transfer the memento firmware to the vmc which is only 8mb. if you could get that far then you would still need a memento firmware specifically for the PS2/PS3 because the PS2 bios on the PS3 is different than the regular PS2 bios. Since we know so little about the ps2/ps3 bios and theres so much security on the PS3, the chances of this being even remotely possible are a long ways off.
It was a pretty good idea though.

osdmain and osdxxx (xxx being your ps version) are 2 of 3 elfs that i know of that the system checks for in the executable folder of ur memory card upon boot.

this is what memor uses in there product to launch there dashboard.
