PS3 Screw Stuck?
I'm trying to disassemble my PS3 to replace the laser and repaste it.
It's a CECHA01 that's never been opened before. I'm at the screw right next to the card reader, and it wont lift off (it will turn, but when I turn it, it makes a squeaking sound). What can I do to get it off? |

So it just spins and spins forever without lifting at all? You can try using a screwdriver with a fairly strong magnetic tip. That way you can put less pressure on it and sort of lift it up a bit while attempting to unscrew it. If that doesnt work then you try using a pair of needle nose pliers to pull on it while unscrewing (be very careful of the surrounding components), if all else fails then take a piece of plastic or another screwdriver and use a quick setting epoxy to bond it to the screw head and unscrew/lift it off that way (that way may ruin the screwdriver depending on the epoxy used and you will want to replace that screw no matter which way you choose). Hope this helps.

Try pliers, if it does not come off easily then twist and pull at the same time. If it's taking too much effort don't yank the screw out, it may damage that part.
edit: you could also use a magnet if you have one lying around. edit2: LOL post above is the exact same thing...great minds think alike

If it's one of the big screws on the bottom left, it can get caught on things when lifting the cover. If you have unscrewed it all the way, try turning your ps3 upside-down and shaking it out. Also, if it is the bottom left one, you can try to use SOME force to left off the cover but dont break anything!!

you could use a hand drill on a slow speed use a bit just a little bigger than the thread of the screw, and drill in the center of the screw. be very careful though, and dont use to much force. easy does it. hope this helps.
Ps remember to remove the thread of the screw once open. |

I got it. I just screwed it in really tightly to put a lot of pressurr on the plastic, then I unscrewed it.
