LOL everyone starts at some point,
No you don't "need" a dongle to hack your PS3, you will need a flasher though like originally stated to downgrade your firmware.
After you downgrade you can use itskamel's tutorial for modding the PS3 (once on 3.55).

he means a flasher. not a flash drive..... a flasher is an expencive piece of equipment... i wouldent really reccomend it to you .lol

Hmm I think the correct term would be you modded, the hacking stuff kinda happens behind the scene, although I have no reason to doubt you (you maybe the best hacker ever lol) I just wanted to point that out.

As for the flash drive mix up: a flasher is not a flash drive/usb drive/pen drive/thumb drive or any form of portable USB removable storage device, it is a device used to read/write information to/from a certain storage chip found on systems like the PS3.
