Great mod, looks good. good tutorial too, does it work the same if you have something plugged into the usb port you soldered the wires to?

I actually didn't check to see what happens when something is plugged into that port. I whipped that up before I had to go to work. I will check when I get home.

Lol, I can't believe I didn't even think about it. I have something in mind that would hopefully remedy the problem should it exist

Plugging in another USB device will likely result in both not working. You might have some success in cutting the D+ and D- Traces (the two in the middle) and soldering a cheap hub in between them.
