Also allow me to add, in the near future you WILL be able to play remastered bd discs created via ps3gen when rebug releases their fw. However it being 3.41 or lower you wont be able to play games encrypted with keys we do not have the respective decryption keys.
As for flashing the bd drive fw, a simple firmware update from sony could easily revert any possible patch. Last edited by daxgr; 09-05-2011 at 01:15 PM. Reason: typo |

![]() Edit: On a side note, I just thought I'd point out to anyone going down the PS2 line of disc authoring and such that the PS2 can't be used as a basepoint of comparison to the PS3 in terms of copy protection, as the two schemes are completely different. The PS2 relied on intentional bad sectors to be present in the first track of the disc. This is what triggered the PS2 BIOS to boot the disc. Since corrupt sectors can't be copied (no matter what software you use, the burner will always fix the corrupted area, thus removing the ability for the disc to trigger the boot sequence on a PS2), it is impossible to burn a bootable PS2 disc. Period. And the PS3 of course, doesn't rely on such techniques, but rather an encryption system (obviously) and a hypervisor (also obviously). Unlike a PS2, where the BIOS is never changed, the PS3 has upgradable (and customizable) firmware. That said, if a person with enough knowledge reversed the entire firmware and learned all it's workings, you could make that firmware do pretty much anything you want, within the capabilities of the machine of course. So, backup booting BD-R would be completely possible I believe. It's just a matter of writing the firmware to bypass the check the PS3 does to see if a disc is genuine.

For that you would need to patch the bd drive fw to somehow bypass the PIC zone check authentication.

, it wouldnt make a eboot , think about it does a dvd burner or cd burner make a the files in side . no it just puts all the files on a disc etc , all the files will have to be there , so the same as burner for the ps3 , all the files will have to be already made before you burn it etc , we can just make a eboot out of nothink it has the be made for the games , we have already got the tools to make eboot etc but we cant make eboots for games other wise it would of been happening ages ago ,
