I was born and raised Braga, Portugal. It's a northern town.
For those who live in Lisbon (like Pockets69) our accent is considered a bit rough and "slangy"
(more evidently in Oporto) as we open a bit more the vowels (sometimes a lot more),
whereas in the south, for instance, it's the other way around (they close them)
and also in our islands (Azores and Madeira), the accent is kinda tricky to understand.
This is something funny because, for instance, in Russia, there's not so much difference in accents,
in spite of being a much bigger country than my own.

Also aladdin, Portugal is well know for being the first ones to ever embark in something called
"Os Descobrimentos" (Portuguese discoveries) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portuguese_discoveries),
for Fado (a musical genre), for its food, for Cristiano Ronaldo (football player), for the Oporto Wine
(very appreciated by the British people), among other things. Just ask me and I'll let you know.

lol Russia not only has different accents, it also uses 50+ different languages
