I appreciate all the work they have done and that certain features make their product unique but believe me when I say that tonight I had my third cobra break on me for no reason whatsoever. Earlier today I was using my cobra enabled ps3 fine, but when I turned it back on this evening I got a black screen with no response from the power button. I flipped off the power switch (fat model) and when I turned it back on I only got a flashing cobra without function. I plugged it into my computer to double check, and wouldn't you know it "unrecognized USB device". I have had three cobras now within the past 40 days, please save yourself the headache and do not buy one

Sorry to hear you've had so much trouble with the Cobra. It appears it's 50/50. Some have had a great experience with while others, not.

I have an E3 dongle too since they came out and it still working as well. Maybe your PS3 usb slots are faulty, I would recommend to be careful when connecting more USB devices to your PS3 since they could be damaged if thats the problem. If you wanna make sure your PS3 is ok I would recommend to take it to a repair center for them to verify the voltage output of your USB slots. I hope you solve your problem. Btw, Cobra Team give support for their product maybe you can contact and discuss your problems with them. I think that telling people not to buy a product just because it failed to you is not gonna solve anything at all. In fact this is the first time I hear that the Cobra dongle failed to someone, so the probabilities of getting a bad dongle are low I believe. SeeYa! ^^

Damn, either you're incredibly unlucky or you're lying about it all being the dongle's fault (I am not implying that by the way).
I have been using my Cobra back and forth on both a CECHA01 60gb NTSC launch PS3 and a CECHC03 60gb PAL launch PS3 and had ZERO problems with the dongle itself although it is a b*tch at times to update. I have had to update the dongle MULTIPLE times even when it has said "done" within their updating application otherwise it will have booting problems. That is complete BS to be honest as when the updating is "done" then it should be done but when it does and I recieve a green LED on the dongle upon booting I never have had a single problem playing games regardless of PSX/PS2/PS3/homebrew etc. Hope you get your problems sorted out man. Peace. Last edited by Persian McLovin; 09-19-2011 at 08:16 PM. |

Multiman has scooped up a few more of their, "exclusive" features anyway...depending on what special feature you bought it for, you might not need one anymore.
Also, there are probably clones out there by now. I notice lightake is selling them...and I know they are happy to sell DS3 clones as the real thing. |

I've been using it with my ceche01 model fat playstation as well. Updating the cobra has never been a problem for me. I purchased my cobra USB from modchipsdirect.com and it may be possible that they have a bad batch. Every time I've had one die on me though I simply ship it back and they replace it no problem but shipping costs are starting to add up. As far as my USB slots go I have never had a single problem with any other device. What's more likely, that I never noticed my USB ports are bad until now or that the illegitimate circumvention device I bought is faulty? I feel like that's a no brainer

Its no secret that I'm not a lover of this cobra USB thing, but in its defense I have had some strange cases of my usb mem sticks and drives locking up and some times its been a nightmare to get them working again if at all on a 16 gig stick, its likely in some cases the stick is clashing or locked out by the ps3, and can only be remounted if you remove the references in the reg file. So its maybe not all the cobras fault.
Just a thought. |
